개념 예술과 컴퓨터 예술의 공통점은 작가의 존재가 감춰지는 것이었다.

개념 예술가들은 창작의 모든 개인적인 흔적을 완화함으로써 예술품과 예술가 사이의 관계를 분리했다.

예술가는 다른 사람이 따라야 하는 일종의 지침인 미리 정해진 시스템을 설치함으로써 개인화된 제도공의 솜씨라는 개념으로부터 분리되었다.
